Formiq accepts PNG and JPEG images as base templates. Designs made in Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, and similar tools can be exported as images and imported directly into Formiq. You can also generate templates with AI if you don't have one prepared.

Formiq accepts CSV and Excel (XLSX) files as data sources. Column headers are detected automatically and exposed as placeable variables on your canvas. You can also customize them when your data changes.

No. You can use Formiq boards on their own for bulk asset generation without creating any event. Events are optional. If you do use event management, you can link a board to an event and use the participant records from that event as your data source for mapping names, emails, tickets, IDs, certificates, and similar assets.

Most bulk design tools generate one asset per page. Formiq's grid layout engine arranges multiple assets on a single page automatically, reducing thousands of individual pages into a much smaller set of print-ready sheets that can be cut immediately.

Mail merge is built for text-heavy documents like letters and envelopes. It is not designed for pixel-precise variable placement on top of custom visual assets. Formiq is purpose-built for certificates, ID cards, tickets, labels, and similar production workflows.

Sequential variables, also called incremental variables, let you generate values like ticket numbers or ID serials without needing a dedicated CSV column. You can define the start value, format, padding, and optional prefixes or suffixes. Sequential and CSV-mapped variables can coexist on the same board.

Yes. Formiq's grid configuration lets you define rows, columns, and margins per board. Assets are automatically arranged across each page to produce a single print-ready PDF optimized for cutting.

A generation means one bulk export job, regardless of how many records it contains. Exporting 1,000 ID cards from one board still counts as one generation.

Uploaded files and generated assets are stored in encrypted cloud storage with data-at-rest protections. Access is restricted to you and any collaborators you explicitly invite to a board. Data is not shared with third parties.

Yes. Boards can be shared with collaborators under view or edit access levels, making it easier for teams to review layouts, apply corrections, and coordinate print runs without manually transferring files.

Formiq detects and attempts to recover from export interruptions automatically. If the export still cannot be completed, the generation credit for that run is refunded in full and the job status is surfaced clearly in the app.
